When it’s wildly hot in NYC, I mean like, record breaking heat, our window units can’t keep up and if there’s been no rain to cool us off, we are toast! Even when the rain only lasts for a split second, it still helps!
So I started thinking about my favorite ways to beat the heat, or at least make it a bit more joyful!
Enjoy an Aperol Spritz at Le Dive! If you can bear it, sit outside and people watch.
Get your hair shampoo’d! Go to Mian Tian Sing: 170 Canal St 2nd floor, NYC. Get it blown out if you want to, but I love to skip that part in summer. That being said, I have very easy hair to air dry, so that makes it easy for me.
Go to any museum (literally, any)!
Go swimming at one of our many public pools! This glorious spot just re-opened and has lines that are extremely long, so get there early!
Go to the movies. This spot is my favorite. After, you can walk over to the Tin Building for a drink outside or sit at one of the many options inside.
Get a hotel room for the night, preferably one with a pool. I love the Hotel Indigo on Ludlow for the cost and the view!
Spend the day at Bathhouse. I love the new one in Flatiron.
Go to the theatre. Find something affordable here.
Wander the Chelsea Market. Eat snacks, look at trinkets and shop at the Muji Market. I love their bar soaps, they smell divine!
Get a Mister Softee! You can track their locations using this app! They’re the best!
I love summer, like, so much. But I’ll admit, it took me a while to get here. It wasn’t until my early 20s that I really settled into it. I’ve always been bigger than my friends, so summer wasn’t exactly my favorite season growing up. Thankfully, I had that glorious moment of clarity (and really good friends around me): who cares? Truly, it’s that simple, who cares! Everyone’s hot, sweaty, and just trying to frolic and have a good time.
What are some of the things you do in the summer to beat the heat?!
ciao-sies! love ya!
Love this!! All suggestions sound amazing but would love to dive right into the pool at Hotel Indigo!!
